ACAP Warns the Southern Triangle Local Councils against the Eastern Railroad Plan

Publishing date: 18/08/2010
The Arab Center for Alternative Planning (ACAP) has recently issued letters to the Local Councils of Teerah, Qalansawah, Kfur Qassem, Jaljolieh, Kfur Barra, and the public committee of Taybeh city informing them about the decision of the National Committee of Planning and Infrastructure Construction in the Interior Ministry to forward the eastern railroad plan to the district committees and the citizens for feedback.

This announced railroad is located to the east of the present railroad that connects Haifa with the south. In length it is 65 km and will extend from the area of northern Pardes Hanna to Led city in the south and will border and pass through the jurisdiction areas of the mentioned above Arab localities. The plan also includes the establishment of two railroad stations, namely Taybeh-Qalansawah, and Teerah-Kokhav Yaer.

ACAP ,which continually follows up all the planning announcements released by different planning bodies and institutions, has urged the Arab local councils which fall within the area of the announced railroad plan to examine the location of the railroad plan vis-à-vis the citizens’ land in this area, and the extent to which this plan will affect the future development of these localities and their jurisdiction areas, so that action can be taken as soon as possible, given that the National Committee of Planning and Infrastructure Construction does not adequately  enable the citizens to examine the plan and to submit their own reservations. Therefore, this opportunity granted to the local authorities constitutes the only opportunity for them to influence the plan; a fact that necessitates a quick reaction from the part of the local authorities and the citizens.
