Project Description
The wheel will be placed in the western part of the public walk, designed to be 40 to 60 meters high. It joins the series of attractions planned to be built in the city's historic basin. The construction of the wheel is being promoted by the Jerusalem Municipality and the Jerusalem Development Authority, despite objections by the donors of the promenade.
Status
Planning phase - The feasibility study of the project was completed, and a planning firm was hired to prepare a detailed construction plan.
Approving Entity
No plans were submitted to any planning entity.
Objections
Families/funders of the public walk, and Israeli archaeologist groups.
Implementation
In July 2021, the Jerusalem municipality announced that it had canceled the planned Ferris Wheel. In light of past experience, there is a need to monitor in case the plan is revived.
